Hip-hop band Monster Florence have been TMR favourites for a while now, and they’ve dropped arguably their best track yet in the form of ‘Midnight Club’. It’s a forward-thinking track that allows a smooth flow to sit above a laid-back beat made up of airy synth chords, a wandering bass line and perfectly placed vocal samples. The track “delves into the future effects of technology on the world by reaching to the past. Movies like Blade Runner and Total Recall were big inspirations. They imagined a retrofitted vision of the future; one where high-tech flying cars operate over a decayed industrial landscape.” Their previous track, ‘Relax’, featured John Cooper Clarke and will feature, along with this track, on their upcoming album, Master System, which will be dropped on February 10th, 2023. -Dan Peeke.
